Family Support

“Children’s developmental trajectory is critically mediated by appropriate, effective relationships with loving and consistent caregivers as they relate to children through play.”

-The National Research Council Institute of Medicine

We know that one of the best ways to support children ages birth through five is to support their families. Well-supported families are connected to the people, resources, and tools they need to raise healthy, happy children.

Raising young children is hard work. Raising young children alone or without sufficient resources can be devastating. OCPYC-funded programs support families through parenting education programs, access to books and early/pre-literacy support, child sexual abuse prevention programs, and home visits focused on building protective factors to reduce the risk of child abuse.
